ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the value of institutional research (IR) offices, and how important it is that they are structured in such a way that allows them to evolve with the needs of the student. A data culture is best developed with two foundational elements: data use and data delivery. The dashboard's goals are to increase transparency; measure more effectively University of Texas (UT) System's productivity, efficiency, and impact; and demonstrate more clearly UT System's accountability to its primary stakeholders, including legislators, policy and decision makers at all levels, academic and administrative leaders, as well as students and their families. The findings of the task force, combined with the other significant actions taken by UT System leadership in support of accountability and transparency, empowered OSI to collect and analyze data to explore higher education pathways and postcollegiate outcomes and to contribute to executive-level conversations about potential solutions.
