ABSTRACT

“I never hauled trash with a professor before,” declares Mone. I respond, “I’ve been on college campuses for 39 years, and I have never driven around a campus in a golf cart hauling trash.” 1 Mone, a 58-year-old African American man, responds with a smile. He clears the passenger seat of the cart, throwing papers in the portable dumpster hitched to it, making room for me.
