ABSTRACT

My name is Zuleta Concepción, and I was asked by my old (well, not old but “ex”) school counselor to write about being poor. Now I am in college, though I wasn’t always “going to college,” if you know what I mean. Being poor and going to school can either save you or drown you. It wasn’t clear which was which for me until I learned some things, so I will tell you about those things. Living poor creates chaos, spills oil on important papers, forgets to sign permission slips, and robs you of the road to knowledge, which is the worst thing.
