ABSTRACT
What should go into a portfolio? What would a “typical” portfolio look like? Obviously, the different understandings about what portfolios are, and the different ways they can be used, all have bearing on the determination of what a portfolio should contain. The first step in sorting through the possibilities, in our view, is to be clear about the reasons why a campus might wish to prescribe the format or content of a portfolio in the first place.
