ABSTRACT

I am a Black Ghanaian/African American heterosexual cisgender man who holds a faculty position at Miami University. I am perhaps the least likely candidate to be writing this afterword. And perhaps it is likely that folks who hold my identities most need to read and digest the words Z Nicolazzo has poured throughout this book. I start with sharing my intersected identi- ties to reinforce one important theme interwoven throughout this book— the importance of naming. Naming things that are hidden removes the veil and makes our biases and assumptions explicit.
