ABSTRACT

Over the two and a half years since I finished data collection for this book, I have never been able to leave the experience. Of course, I have left in the sense that I have moved to new projects and a new job. However, regardless of where my body is, or the new research I am doing, I am still with the participants who worked with me to complete the study for this book. We remain connected; have continued to be in the community; and, at my lowest moments, I still channel their brilliance, confidence, love, and perspectives. When I experience happiness, I most want to share it with the participants, staff members, and faculty at CU with whom I developed deep kinship. Although my body is no longer in Stockdale, a large piece of my heart remains there, just as I have carried the participants with me in my new adventures.
