ABSTRACT

The digital ecosystem, however, also offers opportunities for students to interact with a variety of different networked communities that may require far transfer. Beyond this academic network, students are encouraged to engage in networked communities in the digital ecosystem through digital tools that leverage the power of networks for collective action. So far the author have focused on individual expeditions into the digital ecosystem that occur in the context of one class. Now, he turn to the larger implications of transferring learning into the emerging digital ecosystem for higher education curricula and institutions. To help students develop resilience, instructors should explicitly address the digital ecosystem and model transfer-minded thinking. Being transfer minded in a digital context means explicitly modeling the transfer of academic skills to the digital ecosystem and teaching students how to understand and critique their digital tools.
