ABSTRACT
Creating Multimodal Theses and Dissertations (MTD) can involve managing thousands of files and several different file types. This chapter will address some logistical issues about how to create, connect and manage these files in an efficient manner. Basic guidelines are given for web design and associated issues such as File Transfer Protocol (FTP). These guidelines are also applicable to Provisional Multimodal Research (see Chapter 2), but they are ultimately independent of the methodology that researchers use. A theme throughout this chapter is that you should aim to do most of the design work yourself, as having a firsthand knowledge of your website structure will surface the various technical, pedagogical and theoretical issues involved.
