ABSTRACT

The following text reads like the manifesto of a new left. It is not. It explains why we need – once again – a new left and the manifesto of its awakening. It anticipates some of what will be in such a manifesto. At the time of its writing, however, this text itself belongs to the left that it wants to leave behind. This is also true for us, its authors. We did not write this text on the passage we want to embark on and invite you, the readers, to embark with us. Rather, we wrote it in the solitude of the global pandemic. There we have come together to search for a solution to the problem of which we are a part. The text we wrote is therefore also part of the problem it seeks to solve. That is what makes it worth reading. The passage it seeks will have begun when we and you will have succeeded in embarking for elsewhere. Its manifesto is still to come.
