ABSTRACT

The chapter is an interview conducted by Pamela Cooper-White with Leonid Kadis for the International Conference “Sabina Spielrein and Early Female Pioneers of Psychoanalysis,” held on April 10, 2022. It focuses on the biography and scholarly work of Tatiana Rosenthal, one of the first Russian female psychoanalysts, who lived a short but intense life. The interview concentrates on new, previously unknown data about Rosenthal, first published by Kadis in Russian in 2018. Her biography and her contributions to the development of clinical and applied psychoanalysis are reconstructed in detail. Her primacy in a number of areas of psychoanalytic theory and practice is revealed. Some hypothetical assumptions made about Rosenthal in earlier publications are discussed and challenged.
