ABSTRACT

Business schools are ground zero for forming future leaders of society and yet the current business school curriculum does not allow space for questioning the business systems currently in place. A system that cannot be questioned becomes an indoctrination rather than an education. Worse, the current system is one that is proving to be incompatible with the continuation of life on planet earth. Three of the assumptions embedded within the business school curriculum that need to be questioned are endless growth; the acceptance of nondemocracy in the workplace; and free markets and competition are positives. If we are to have a shot at leaving a better world for our children, indeed, if we are to maintain the possibility of an inhabitable planet, we need to make drastic changes and business schools are one of the leverage points for doing so.
