ABSTRACT

Facing urgent worldwide challenges and a necessary transition toward a regenerative environmental, social, and economic framework, entrepreneurship might be a key driver toward these changes. This chapter demonstrates that tailored entrepreneurship modules in higher education can be a major lever to provide students with necessary competencies and postures. Some of those competencies include collective intelligence, systemic vision, autonomy, empowerment, taking decisions in complex and uncertain environments, work in group projects and debates with experts in a renewed approach. We chose an innovative pedagogical device, a learning expedition, to enable students from engineering schools to confront the difficulties and opportunities of setting up a responsible, sustainable venture, displacing them from their usual benchmarks. The experience was challenging and extremely positive in its outcome. We share the process, results, and experiences in hopes of motivating other faculties to undertake the same experimentation, because our programs need to swiftly adapt to address global problems.
