ABSTRACT

The author seeks to understand how intergenerational learning using digital technology can contribute to art education, relationship-building, and artistic literacy. She describes six art projects that she co-facilitated with her university students, where the iPad was used for artmaking and communication among learners of mixed ages. The contexts for these art experiences included a preschool childcare center, assisted living facility, elementary classroom, after-school art program, senior center, neighborhood youth center, and rehabilitation center. Various artmaking activities and drawing applications were introduced to the intergenerational participants. Recorded messages, personal artmaking videos, and Zoom conversations supported collaborative interactions.
