ABSTRACT
This chapter presents a first-person narrative of the experiences that the author had on the Acoma Pueblo and the surrounding areas for over 16 years. By working with a traditional Acoma family, he was able to gain an intimate view of the Family and Acoma culture revolving around a female Elder and Clan Grandmother. The information will include a personal, anecdotal narrative reflecting the process of becoming an elder.
