ABSTRACT

This chapter presents in detail the POSHAN Abhiyaan and salient features of POSHAN 2.0, under the new scheme “Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0,” which has been finalised in consultation with the state government and stakeholders. The goal of POSHAN Abhiyaan was “to achieve improvement in nutritional status of children 0–6 years, adolescent girls (AGs), pregnant women and lactating mothers (PW/LM) in a time-bound manner during the next three years beginning 2017–18 with fixed targets”. The task of management of implementation of POSHAN Abhiyaan was carried out by the Central Project Management Unit (CPMU) POSHAN Abhiyaan under the MWCD. For technical guidance, the following two bodies provided support—the National Council on India’s Nutrition Challenges (NC) and the National Technical Board on Nutrition (NTBN). Supervision, monitoring and use of data for decision making was strengthened through remodeling of the existing monitoring system to enable real-time monitoring (ICT-RTM) through introduction of an innovative computerised technology.
