ABSTRACT

The UP state mission program strategy was the first state nutrition program framework focusing not only on the first 1000 days of life but also planned to reach out to newly married/preconception women and adolescent girls. In addition, as a part of Anaemia Control Program, Weekly Iron Folic Acid Supplements (WIFS) policy was pilot tested in many states to address the public health problem of anaemia in adolescent girls in schools and out of school. Taking into consideration the grave problem of anaemia, a revised policy of Anamia Mukt Bharat Program was launched in 2018 and is being scaled up to address the problem women, adolescents, school-aged and young children. The value addition of social feeding programs to improve daily diet diversity and reduce high rate of various micronutrient deficiencies, reported by CNNS 2019 in young children and adolescents, needs to be systematically examined.
