ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors introduce a framework for organizational development in assessment through three critical practices – providing structure, promoting and supporting, and engaging and reinforcing. This chapter discusses opportunities for divisional, department, and unit assessment leaders to promote a sound, comprehensive assessment approach through these embedded organizational practices leading to sustainable, meaningful, informative, and manageable assessment efforts. The components of an assessment cycle, including goals and outcomes, collecting and analyzing data, and using results for improvement are discussed through an organizational development lens. Key takeaways, training and educational strategies, and resources for success are provided.
