ABSTRACT
In Chapter 1, Shahadat Hossain Siddiquee uses the tools of exploratory analysis to assess the impact of Covid-19 on the economy of Bangladesh – a major country in South Asia – and one of the fastest growing economies of the world. Although the study focuses on a single country, the lessons and policy recommendations suggested can generally be applicable to other countries in South Asia as the economies of all these countries were adversely affected due to the pandemic albeit at different magnitudes.
