ABSTRACT

This chapter assesses the Indian military’s readiness to adopt advanced digital technologies into its general functions. To examine its readiness, reports from Army Design Bureau, military imports, and exports from SIPRI are analyzed to provide an overview of the recent technological developments, weapon systems inductions, and pending digital projects of the Indian military. This chapter premises that if the Indian military has to compete with China, it has to surpass the Chinese Informatization of its military. Human Artificial Intelligence center’s 2022 report is analyzed to provide a gist of India’s contribution to computer vision development, which is highly used in the military digitization process. Further, the final section of the chapter qualitatively analyzes the digital readiness of the Indian military.
