ABSTRACT
Hope, despair, ruin, and rejuvenation are the major themes in this collection, which covers the areas of literature and culture in their broadest sense. Assembled in three sections, the anthology moves from the personal to the collective: Individual Matters: Body and Mind; Societal Matters: Utopian and Dystopian Impulses; and Earthly Matters: Apocalypse and the Anthropocene. The introduction explains the structure and the guiding concepts of the anthology, situating them in relation to theories of narrative and hope, utopia and dystopia, and the environmental humanities.
