ABSTRACT

In this introductory chapter, the author outlines the main aims of the volume: first, to present some key topics in the field of psychedelic music studies and set forth some new trajectories for research, and second, to offer new insights from what is an under-researched topic by bringing together work on different genres and eras of psychedelic music from contributors in a variety of fields. The author outlines the contributions of each chapter, highlights some key topics in the field and details some of the common characteristics of psychedelic music.
