The museum could be used to illustrate such themes as the development of British postal services and the introduction of penny postage in 1840. It sells sets of coloured postcards illustrating British postage stamps and postal history. Bruce Castle Museum, Lordship Lane, London N17 8nu has a permanent display of postal history exhibits and can arrange talks, films and special facilities to examine the exhibits for booked parties. The British Museum contains the Tapling Collection of rare stamps of the nineteenth century and these are on public view. Postcards of early stamps from this collection are on sale. The filmstrip Posts, Banking and Money covers the postal reforms of 1840. The Science Museum publish a 35 X 48cm. coloured lithograph of a Royal Mail Coach. The filmstrip The History of Radio covers both telephony and radio and can be highly recommended, though the approach requires some scientific knowledge.
