ABSTRACT

One is immediately impressed by the paucity of material published for the junior and the less able child on London and town life, though the quality of book production has recently very much improved. C. Trent, Greater London is a very readable large-scale history, which provides useful information on the area covered by the Greater London Council. Another book providing valuable material is The Geography of Greater London , a source book for teachers and students prepared by the Standing Sub-committee in Geography, University of London Institute of Education. It contains excellent bibliographies and suggestions for field work. Finally, schools and teachers in London would benefit from membership of the London and Middlesex Archaeological Society, which has a schools section and produces a bulletin and pamphlets.
