ABSTRACT

The British Museum exhibits, which include Egyptian and Mesopotamian collections, are outstanding. Excellent general surveys of Greece and Rome will be found in Greek Civilization and Roman Civilization. The number of films that can be hired which deal with various topics of Greek and Roman history and life is very large; their quality and age is no less varied. EFVA and Sound Services are the most useful distributors. The output of illustrated books has increased enormously, though it is not always easy to distinguish between worth-while scholarly productions and coffee-table meretriciousness. The best map of ancient Greece is published by Macmillan: made of linen, with Greece on one side and Alexander's Empire on the other, it has a clear plastic surface on which chalk may be used and readily erased.
