ABSTRACT

The Jackdaw folders on medieval topics contain valuable facsimiles of documents; the bigger pictures make good class discussion points, and can be pinned up for pupils to use in their own work, but some of the pictures are too small and the information sheets too closely printed for this. History atlases do not normally contain much medieval English material. I. Richards and J. A. Morris, A Sketch-map History of Britain and Europe to 1485 has the most. The best filmstrips of a general nature on the Middle Ages are The Medieval World. Four Bodleian filmstrips of colour reproductions from manuscripts on towns and trade are: Medieval Town Life: thirteenth to fifteenth century; Medieval Professions: eleventh to sixteenth century; Medieval Transport: thirteenth to sixteenth century and Medieval Ships and Shipping: twelfth to sixteenth century. In addition, there is a black and white filmstrip, The Medieval Church, which includes the monastic orders, friars and Wycliffe.
