ABSTRACT

The Times, from its beginning in 1787, is on microfilm and pages containing correspondence from South America can be obtained. This correspondence indicates some of the British attitudes to the early nineteenth-century wars of liberation. The best list of visual aids available on South American and Peninsular history is that obtainable from the Hispanic Council. Several filmstrips are available on the Incas. The Incas of Peru consists of reconstructed scenes of the life of the Incas, but also contains some photographs of remains of Inca building. A set of seven filmstrips, Ancient South American Indian Civilizations, is supplied with detailed notes. A list of the best material available must include the two series, each containing six filmstrips, the Age of Exploration and Spanish Explorers of the New World. Connoisseur Films Ltd includes many great Latin American films in their catalogue, and most of these are probably worth showing in school.
