ABSTRACT

Audio-visual materials purely on the history of South-east Asia are not readily available, but what there is can be usefully augmented from materials on the art, culture, religions, geography, economy and current affairs of the area. The Information Service of Thailand will provide details of slides of temples, traditional costumes and ceremonies, etc., available from the Borneo Co. Ltd of Bangkok. Displays of South-east Asian arts and crafts can be seen in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, and in the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The Embassies and High Commissions of South-east Asian countries are valuable sources of materials. On request, most of them will send informatory literature, much of which has useful illustrations. Films, usually with a mainly geographical or economic content, can also be found listed in the Catalogue of Sponsored Films, and the catalogues of the Central Booking Agency and the Central Film Library.
