ABSTRACT

Two filmstrip series are available, both composed of drawings and simple maps and including some frames worth using. There are nine strips in the Great Explorers series, each dealing with the discoveries of one explorer, and the Age of Exploration includes strips on Henry the Navigator, Drake and Magellan. Exploration and conquest in South and Central America is illustrated by a number of filmstrips, all of which could be used effectively by the teacher, but which are rather uninspiring. Journeys of exploration in Africa, and in particular the expeditions of David Livingstone and Mungo Park, are the theme of several filmstrips and films. Many aspects of space exploration are illustrated in a series of films which record highlights of the various Apollo flights.
