ABSTRACT

Infertility has been well documented over time as a crisis and a trauma for some individuals and couples (Burns & Covington, 2006; Carter et. al., 2007; Peoples & Rovner-Ferguson, 2000; Shapiro et al., 2001), and was also shown to be associated with posttraumatic growth (Paul et. al., 2009). This chapter presents a case vignette of one couple's infertility journey from crisis and trauma to posttraumatic growth, highlighting practice strategies used to facilitate growth and specific areas where growth was manifested.
