ABSTRACT

Peru and the Ann Sullivan community were badly affected by the coronavirus. Between March 2020 and October 2021, more than 245 cases were reported in the Centro Ann Sullivan del Peru community alone, including students, staff and their family members. At the time of this writing, 234 people recovered, 10 died and others were still fighting, some in intensive care. For those who contracted COVID-19 infection, many were not able to access oxygen or beds in a Peruvian hospital. This chapter highlights the remarkable strategies that were successfully adopted by a nonprofit organization in Peru to help children with disabilities and their families during the pandemic. The authors have also shared case studies and strategies for everyone to consider adopting during the time of a pandemic.
