ABSTRACT

Access to education, health care, and necessities of most of the citizens in the United States was affected in many ways during the COVID-19 pandemic. Individuals with disabilities had fewer choices than typically developing individuals when it came to accessing educational and many essential services. Many individuals with disabilities receive multiple services in and outside of the schools like speech therapy, occupational therapy, and medical services. However, the pandemic forced many of these individuals to remain home and make choices either to receive limited services online or to wait for them to be available. This chapter highlights the legal system, current status, and the stories of individuals with disabilities and their families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
