ABSTRACT

People with disabilities in Iraq have not yet been provided with any special needs services and programs required to overcome the challenges and obstacles that they face in their daily lives. They belong to different socio-economic, racial, and religious backgrounds. The authors have highlighted several ongoing challenges that arose during the pandemic. These range from fragile health conditions to various disabilities in individuals in the country. Since individuals with disabilities have been marginalized, it has been hard for them to have supportive political affiliation or any other support. Individuals with disabilities receive less education and fewer job opportunities. Despite all these issues, some individuals with disabilities have strong will and resolution and consequently have achieved remarkable academic or educational successes in many fields and aspects of life.
