ABSTRACT

The present chapter critiques the pervasive masculine development model from a feminist standpoint and argues that this model is taking away the resources and knowledge base from women. The author further says that the threat caused due to environmental damage is real and that there needs to be a sense of urgency to rectify or reverse the threat. Various studies have shown that the ideologies of patriarchy and masculinity are hegemonizing development perspectives leading to catastrophic results, hence women’s indigenous knowledge should be the guiding principle for development.
