ABSTRACT
Urban poverty is a deep problem that has tremendous implications for the well-being of people, for peace and security, and for education. Poverty in the United States, and particularly in cities such as Memphis, TN, is the result of a system that deliberately excludes people and keeps them trapped in low-wage jobs.
