ABSTRACT

The chapter “Empowering Confidence: Imposter Syndrome” explores the widespread issue of imposter syndrome and provides strategies to overcome it. It reveals that a significant percentage of people, around 82%, struggle with feeling like frauds in different aspects of their lives. The chapter emphasizes the detrimental psychological effects of imposter syndrome, such as anxiety, depression, and career burnout. It suggests reading Own Your Greatness: Overcome Imposter Syndrome, Beat Self-Doubt, and Succeed in Life by Lisa Orbé-Austin and Richard Orbé-Austin for further guidance. The chapter offers seven strategies, including challenging cognitive distortions, sharing feelings, celebrating successes, letting go of perfectionism, cultivating self-compassion, sharing failures, and accepting imposter feelings. It highlights the importance of addressing imposter syndrome for personal growth and healthy relationships while acknowledging that overcoming it is an ongoing process.
