ABSTRACT

This chapter seeks to understand the nature of nuclear proliferation in terms of gender, time and language. The author examines the notion of gendered violence, social violence, globalism, poverty and equality and how this links with India's nuclear status. The concept and prospect of nuclear devastation exist today in the context of the increasing tolerance for and normalization of violence in several different terrains: patriarchal, communal, caste-based, state, structural, reproductive and environmental.
