History is critical, as I ponder over the dialectic of time and change. History can also be in Kant’s words ‘a perfectly realizable state’ and, as Hegel states ‘the process whereby the spirit discovers itself—all in my search for meaning and relevance’. A memory-source it is, also, in my being continually aware of the indentured past. 1
