ABSTRACT
Autobiographies constitute a branch of literature that considers individuals’ personal lives – of the world surrounding the self. The author looks at the contribution of autobiographies – and how these can distort our understanding of a historical age since they prioritise the individual’s life over the wider historical context. Malta is taken as the main case study.
