ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on BRICS countries’ climate strategies, which are responsible for a significant portion of global greenhouse gas emissions. The pandemic has disrupted economies and societies worldwide and affected the implementation of climate strategies, including renewable energy and green infrastructure projects. The study will explore the similarities and differences in approaches and policies to tackle climate change and assess the effectiveness of their strategies and solutions. The research aims to provide insights into potential opportunities for collaboration and cooperation among BRICS countries to achieve global climate goals. The case study method and comparative approach will be used to explore the link between the COVID-19 pandemic and BRICS’ reactions to climate strategies. The research highlights the profound impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on BRICS’ climate strategies and the need for solutions to deal with the climate challenge. The research will deepen our understanding of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on BRICS’ climate strategies and BRICS’ reflections on the climate challenge, providing valuable insights into how BRICS can solve climate issues in the future based on the long-term impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the study is limited due to the limited availability of data, the potential biases in the sources used for the analysis, and the unpredictable future development and impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on BRICS’ climate strategies.
