ABSTRACT

THE Fernseh-A.G., who, ever since the beginning of television research in Germany, were relied upon to supply the scanning discs used by the Post Office, have developed a number of scanning methods. They have by no means given up the original spotlight method, employed by Baird in his first demonstrations of actual television. In fact, the latest apparatus devised for the high-definition television service recently started in Berlin comprises two highly perfected scanners, one of which makes use of the flying spot of light and is intended to transmit the announcer’s head or half-length picture, and the other to illustrate any talks or instructive lectures delivered over the Witzleben ultra-short wave sound transmitter.
