ABSTRACT

it is fitting that the men who have struggled to inaugurate television as a public service should tell the story of its experimental stages of development. Herein they have written an informal record of this new industry and their hopes and visions for its future. This collection of experiences cannot be called a complete history, as the story of television is being written, day by day, in the studios by the engineers and artists who are constantly further developing and perfecting this new medium of expression. At the present time and for many years to come the expansion and growth of this new art will be a matter of constant research and co-operation between engineers, program directors, and artists.
