ABSTRACT

The complexity of the term Motor Competence (MC) and its relation to other phrases (motor proficiency, motor performance, Fundamental Movement Skill (FMS), motor ability, and motor coordination) can easily cause confusion and potentially muddy the waters. Product-oriented (quantitative) and process-oriented (qualitative) assessments of fundamental motor skills are the two types of assessments used to evaluate an individual's movement outcome. Product-oriented assessments include kicking speed, distance kicked, or accuracy of kicks. Strength is crucial for football success from a performance perspective and from an injury prevention standpoint. As such, strength is a cornerstone for athletic performance, particularly power, as these physiological qualities play significant roles in football performance. Using a handgrip dynamometer, this test measures the maximum force an individual can generate in an isometric handgrip, providing an indication of upper body strength. Systematic observation criteria have been used in notational analysis in which definitions of a skill or action are classified as successful or unsuccessful by the coach.
