ABSTRACT

Culture, restores order and harmony, and rescues man from the task of redefining the world every time. Culture without its ideals is impossible to imagine. A country which consists mainly of plains, is well irrigated and has ample sunshine for the greater part of the year is suitable for agriculture. Major feature of an agricultural community is its relatively closer relationship with nature, its easy merger with the rhythm of cyclic seasons. The Indian mind has developed in an environment which is blessed by a warm climate, a rich soil, abundant productivity and easy communication. The great strength of Indian culture is its dynamism, its creativity, its ability to accommodate and synthesize multiple currents and traditions. The great lesson of Indian culture is how to remain open without denying the basic fundamentals. Modernity with its ethos of equality and uniformity is also denying the traditional roledifferentiations.
