ABSTRACT

The IT sector is one of the growing areas in every country. And in this regard, job satisfaction is very important, but this satisfaction decreases if someone is continuously facing harassment and is bullied in their workplace because of their sexual preferences. Everybody has the right to choose his/her sexual partner, but when it comes to choosing somebody of the same gender as their partner, colleagues start bullying that person. The present study was done to find the difference in subjective happiness and life satisfaction among homosexuals and bisexuals. Data were collected from 50 homosexuals and 50 bisexuals, age ranging from 25 to 35 years, working in IT sector, and tools used were Satisfaction with Life Scale by Diener for measuring life satisfaction and Subjective Happiness Scale by for measuring happiness. Independent Sample T-Test was used to evaluate the difference between the two groups. The results showed significant differences between the two groups in both the variables. Also, positive correlation was found between the two variables, after application of Pearson Correlation Method. This study focuses on the mental health of the homosexual and bisexual people, their problems and ways to curb bullying in their workplace.
