ABSTRACT

Many researchers have coined the term ‘emotional wellbeing’ as the use of emotions in a most judicious way. Any person is presumed to be emotionally intelligent, when they intentionally make emotions work for them that is reflected in their behaviour and their thought process. Many studies have proved that it is wiser to think with emotion, rather than with intelligence alone. Those persons with higher emotional wellbeing are able to merge both emotions and logical reasoning, utilizing emotions to assist the logic behind any reasoning, intelligently. The degree of accuracy of our actions and the effectiveness of a person’s actions and the effectiveness of the communications of thoughts make up a person’s total emotional wellbeing. It is basically being emotionally fit, with the knowledge of understanding the emotional feelings and also ways of controlling it. The previous researches depicts that emotional wellbeing affects many areas of administration but very few of these studies showed the effect of it in academic field. The current study is undertaken to understand the relation between emotional wellbeing of academic administrators and their effect on their administrative effectiveness. To appraise the same, a structured questionnaire by Nicola Schutte was used. The academic administrators in this study are in the managerial position for at least few years in some of the renowned educational institutes. Factor analysis, Canonical correlation and MANOVA are conducted with the help of SPSS software. It can be found from the study that emotional wellbeing does have an impact on administrative effectiveness, and also demographic variable has a special effect on the way of showing emotion.
