ABSTRACT

At present, the hilly loess piedmonts and plains at the mountain foothills in the mountainous systems of Central Asia are covered chiefly with herbaceous or semi-shrub-herbaceous vegetation (associations Carex pachystylis-Poa bulbosa or Artemisia diffusa-Carex pachystylis-Poa bulbosa). These areas are peculiar in their higher precipitation rates as compared with the adjacent plain desert. However, the vegetation cover productivity here is not sufficient, it is not proportional to the precipitation amount and to the entire combination of local natural resources.
