ABSTRACT

In general, computers are not yet used routinely in departments of geriatric medicine in the United Kingdom. A Medlars search produced only one paper on the subject (Das et al., 1979). Nevertheless, there are many aspects of health care relevant to geriatricians and their departments in which the computer is emerging as a valuable tool. According to the DHSS register of NHS computer ‘hardware’, there were roughly 300 computers of various capacities in the 14 regions of England in 1979.
