ABSTRACT

The present chapter focuses on the development of e-governance in the Indian context and teaches us how crucial it is to ensure government openness and accountability and to foster citizen engagement in policymaking through access to timely, relevant data. The role of social networks as an interface for communication between governments, citizens, and government agencies and the private sector is growing. User adoption of social networking sites paves the way for open governance reforms in public sector organizations and new forms of interaction between governments and their constituents. The government's attempts to implement innovation into its operations and rising citizen expectations can be brought closer together through the usage of social media networks. This study, based on secondary sources, investigates the potential and challenges of utilizing social media for effective government administration.
