ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we hear from two health ministers, hailing from The Netherlands and The Bahamas, who are playing a leading role in their countries’ journey to zero carbon emissions, while simultaneously coping with accelerating patient numbers and types. These forward-thinking political leaders provide examples of the governmental policies needed to address the bi-directional impacts of climate change and healthcare systems. Both leaders acknowledge the importance of informed and empowered patients to the successful implementation of these policies. We need more leadership such as that demonstrated by these health ministers.
