ABSTRACT

Despite its importance, ‘sexuality education’ remains controversial and often taboo in many communities and schools. The lack of comprehensive and inclusive ‘sexuality education’ can have serious consequences, including increased rates of unintended pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and sexual violence. This scientific paper explores the importance of teaching ‘sexuality education’ to school students in India. The paper emphasizes teaching ‘sexuality education’ that shall promote healthy sexual behaviours and relationships. The researcher has designed and developed a comprehensive curriculum on “Sexuality Education” for Indian school students, providing appropriate teaching-learning materials (TLMs) and pedagogical tools. The researcher has also suggested several games and activities, thus making the course more engaging and interesting. Furthermore, several ways to use storytelling method to effectively engage school students in classroom discourse has been proposed. The developed curriculum is evidence-based, culturally sensitive, and responsive to the needs of students.
